Welcome WWKD readers! Have you always wanted to know the latest news on Kate’s favorite brands and designers, but don’t have the time to keep up? Well look no further, because Royal Fashion Buzz is here! This new series will cover everything from A-Z or as we like to say Alexander McQueen to Zimmerman… And you can even catch the WWKD Editors chatting about the new series on our podcast – details at the bottom of the post. Let’s get started, shall we?
Jimmy Choo just got adopted! One of Kate’s go-to brands for sexy stilettos, Jimmy Choo, has recently been bought by American retailer Michael Kors. The $1.2 billion acquisition was made in an attempt to breathe new life into the wilting Kors brand, which has been on the decline for many years now. Read more about it here.
An oldie but a goody! When the Duchess of Cambridge (then Kate Middleton) was officially introduced to the world in that stunning sapphire blue dress, we all wanted to know who made it and if we could get our hands on it. The designer Issa became a favorite for the first few years of her public life, and now UK retailer House of Fraser carries a diffusion line called Issa London. If you didn’t get a chance to scoop up the iconic engagement dress or one of the many repliKates, here’s your chance!
The new Fall “It” bag is here! Every Autumn the temperatures drop, but the fashion heats up. This year, one of Kate’s most beloved designers, Alexander McQueen, is responsible for the “It’ Bag of the season. The box bag as it’s called has been inspired by antique luggage and treasure chests and comes in an array of colors and patterns. I can definitely see Kate wearing one of the solid colored bags as it is trendy, yet classic.
Jenny’s Pack’in it in! After six years from her first show at New York Fashion Week, British designer Jenny Packham, and one of Kate’s favorite designers for formal gowns, will discontinue her traditional catwalk tradition. Ms. Packham is questioning the value of the runway show in our technologically advanced times, and wishes to take a more digital approach. We are sad to see her go, but can’t wait to see what’s in store!
Zimmerman is coming to London Town! The Australian brand has opened it’s first European store in London on Bruton Street in Mayfair. Many of us first heard about Zimmerman on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Australian and New Zealand tour when Kate stunned in a Summery white eyelet dress. They are known for their light and airy designs and will also now have express shippping to the UK!
Erdem and H&M got married-at least for a little while! Canadian and Turkish designer Erdem Moralioglu is collaborating with Swedish high-street retailer H&M. This is one of many designer collaborations that H&M has done, but is even more exciting for us since it is one of Kate’s favorites. Now us mere mortals can rock some of Erdem’s designs for a fraction of the cost.
Shop till you pop! Beulah, a company that combines fashion with charity, will open a pop-up shop on London’s Sloane Street in the months leading up to Christmas and through the New Year. Worn by both Kate, and her sister Pippa, the brand is an advocate for women in unfortunate circumstances. One of their campaigns “Go Bless it forward” works with The Women’s Interlink Foundation and Key to Freedom. Every scarf has been made by a woman who has suffered from abuse or trafficking, and with each purchase, you receive one for free to gift away to a friend or loved one. Now that is what I call BEU-tiful…
Dolce & Gabbana gets cooking! Lifestyle brands are a huge trend right now, and many designers and fashion houses are trying their hands at domestic products. Usually known for their gorgeous lace dresses, (which the Duchess is a big fan of), D&G are now making juicers, coffee makers, toasters and more. They teamed up with Italian brand Smeg to create this line of kitchen appliances. Che Bello!
Paris, New York, London? Take your pick! A longtime favorite of the Duchess of Cambridge, French brand Longchamp has collaborated with designer Vahram Muratyan to create a line of graphic printed Le Pliage totes. The origami print was inspired by the meaning of Le Pliage, which is “the folding” and some of our favorite cities are hidden in the text!
