Today, the Duchess of Cambridge visited Farms for City Children. The charity offers urban children in the United Kingdom a chance to spend a week on a real farm, living and working together toward a common goal. There are three different areas in which the program is offered, and Kate visited the location in Wick Court, Gloucestershire today.
Upon arrival at the farm, Kate was provided with a tour of the grounds by both schoolchildren and teachers. According to People Magazine, Kate met with children’s author Michael Morpurgo and his wife Clare, who founded the literacy-focused Farms for City Children organization in 1976. She then joined a story time session led by Murpurgo.
Kate helped the children complete various tasks around the farm. According to Hello! Magazine, she made her way from allotment to allotment, tending to the pigs, sheep, and chickens. She also helped plant onions in the vegetable patch.
For today’s outdoor event, Kate was casual and comfortable in the Troy London Wax Parka, previously seen on her trip to Canada in September of last year. She paired her light, fitted jacket with Zara Biker jeans and a pair of Penelope Chilvers Long Tassel Boots for a look that was chic yet appropriate for the occasion.
Underneath the Duchess’s jacket, she wore a navy sweater with a collared, blue-and-white checkered shirt.
Kate finished off her casual look with a bit of sparkle – her Kiki McDonough Lauren Leaf Pave diamond earrings, and her Cartier Ballon Bleu watch. Fitting final details for a Duchess who loves the idea of life on a farm!
Kate was clearly delighted to be at Farms For City Children, and even revealed that she has five chickens at her home in Norfolk, and children George and Charlotte have a hamster named Marvin. Ever the country girl, the Duchess was in her element at the event today!
