Both Kate and William stepped out today at the first of three summer garden parties hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace. They were joined by the Queen, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, and Princess Beatrice.
The lavish garden party was held in the afternoon sunshine, with 8,000 guests in attendance. According to E! Online, almost 27,000 cups of tea were served to those in attendance, and around 20,000 tea sandwiches were consumed.
These garden parties at the Palace are a summer tradition for the Queen, who will host three in London and one at Holyroodhouse, her residence in Edinburgh. The invitees are members of the public who have made a positive impact in their community, and the hostess herself was clad in a soft pink ensemble and was in fine, energetic form as she chatted with her guests.
For her second garden party of the week, the Duchess of Cambridge chose a familiar baby blue Christopher Kane coat dress that was first seen at the London Olympics in 2012, and again at The Order of the Garter in 2014. A matching hat by John Lock & Co. pulled the look together, along with her nude pumps.
Both Kate and William took the time to chat with the guests. According to the Daily Mail, when Kate was asked about her sister Pippa’s upcoming nuptials on the weekend, and Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s roles in the wedding, she said that she “was hopeful that they would be good, but you never know at that age.”
Ever the picture-perfect couple, Kate and William coordinated their outfits for today’s garden party. William’s blue silk vest matched his wife’s blue coat dress.
Stay tuned this weekend for our coverage of Pippa Middleton’s wedding!
