We love hearing how Kate influences our readers to incorporate elements of Kate’s style into their lives, and to see some of their favourite pieces. It was no exception with Giulia, whose Kate inspired closet is nothing short of incredible – and her thrifty finds and use of the repliKate community to grow her collection are inspiring!
Without further ado, let’s jump into Giulia’s Royally Inspired closet.
Hello everyone! I’m Giulia, 25, and I’m from Italy.
My admiration for the Duchess of Cambridge hit me like lightning one day as I looked for a picture of her on Pinterest around three years ago by chance. While I was already fond of the Royal Family (the day of the Royal Wedding I skipped my classes at the University to watch it!) but my passion for Kate herself came later. Today my collection of Kate’s clothes counts more than 30 pieces and my intention is to grow it larger of course. Today, I’ll show you some of my favorite pieces and share the stories behind them.
I want to start from what I call the deal of the century I got on my Aquatalia Rhumba boots. Guess how much I paid for them. I paid 20£ for them. Yes, it is correct t-w-e-n-t-y. I barely believe it myself, but as I was surfing on eBay one day, I came across these beauties in great condition, like new and in my size. Obviously I didn’t hesitate one second, I immediately wrote to the seller who was very happy to sell me her not-beloved boots and arrange the shipping. I’m guessing she didn’t know anything about their fame among royal fans and Aquatalia’s usual prices’ range!
One of the most beautiful things of being part of the replikate community is having the opportunity to meet amazingly nice girls who share your same passion and above all are happy to help you to add a piece to your collection. This the case of two jumpers I absolutely adore, the Jigsaw teal cashmere one and the Tippi Striped sweater from JCrew.
I was able to buy the jumper from Jigsaw thanks to the precious help of my friend Lauren. Once it has been IDed, we immediately chatted about the new information and since it was from the previous year’s collection we didn’t have much hope – until we thought about the outlets! Lauren was super quick to call some outlets in UK that I found on Jigsaw’s website were supposed to have the sweater in stock. After some calls we found out there was a truck on its way to the outlets with 38 jumpers on board. Bingo!!! We asked the shop to reserve two of them and then ship them to Lauren’s house who arranged later a second shipping to Italy, where I live.
The Tippi Sweater has a similar story but the key girl was Tiffany who luckly lives near a JCrew shop. It was already sold out in stores at the time it was IDed and only a few pieces were available online. We were messaging via phone when Tiffany suddenly disappeared from the chat. When I asked where she was she replied “In the car, I’m driving to JCrew”! 15 minutes later I received a picture from the dressing room where she had been able to get a sweater for both of us.
The last individual piece I wanted to share is the pair of navy loafers from Russell and Bromley we saw on Kate some months ago. They are a beloved piece because I bought them in London when I went there with my mum to celebrate her birthday. We went for three days of shopping and included a royal day; visiting places related with Kate such as Kensington Palace, Chelsea and the Goring Hotel. They are the perfect souvenir from a wonderful mother-daughter trip.
While in London, I also bought the Nina clutch from LK Bennett. I called from Italy several days before leaving for London to reserve one so I could be sure to find it once I was in London since it is a very popular piece!
I also decided to share, along with the previous single pieces, a whole outfit because I love to mix garments from Kate’s collection according to my not-royal daily life. I put together three versatile pieces in one casual/comfy/chic outfit that I can wear during the weekend – but by simply changing the shoes into a pair of ballet flats you could be ready for a casual-chic working day. The sweater is from Kate’s Scouting UK engagement in December, it’s the Iris and Ink cashmere sweater. The bottoms are Zara mid raise khaki jeans and the shoes are the Mint Velvet Bea Plimsoll
We hoped you loved peeking into Giulia‘s closet as much as we did!
