The Queen hosted the annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace, and we were treated to not only William and Kate being in attendance, but also to seeing Kate in a tiara!
Kate looked every inch the Duchess as she was photographed with the most senior members of the royal family in a photograph taken before the event. The event is normally very secretive, so it was unusual for such a photograph to be taken.
Over 1000 guests were in attendance for the evening’s festivities and they were treated to all three female members of the Royal Family in evening gowns and tiaras belonging to the Queen. Rebecca English of the Daily Mail shared that Camilla was wearing the Boucheron tiara, Her Majesty the Queen in George VI sapphires and that Kate was wearing the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara. Many will remember that the Lover’s Knot tiara was a favourite of Princess Diana.
Rebecca also shared that the “Queen and the Duchess of Cornwall also wore The Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II, an honour bestowed on female members of the British Royal Family by the monarch and worn on formal occasions”. The women in the family who have been bestowed the honour include Camilla, Sophie, Princess Anne, Princess Alexandra, and the Duchess of Gloucester.
Kate wore a repeat bespoke red Jenny Packham dress, which we had previously seen during the State Banquet for President Xi of China in 2015.
What did you think of Kate’s look?
