We were treated today to two surprise events from the Duchess of Cambridge that were previously embargoed due to security reasons. Hooray for unplanned Kate appearances!
The first engagement was at HMP Eastwood Park Women’s Prison in Gloucestershire. There, Kate spoke with staff to learn how they support women with a range of complex needs.Staff explained their work with women with often diverse needs including mental health concerns, family breakdowns, and addiction. Kate also spoke to a small number of prisoners about their personal stories.
From there, Kate visited the Nelson’s Trust, who work closely with HMP Eastwood Park to support women leaving prison and their families. The Duchess wants to see the support helping vulnerable families break the cycles at the heart of issues like addiction and mental health. Set up in 2010, the Nelson’s Trust women’s centre supports vulnerable women, particularly those who have experienced trauma & abuse.
We saw Kate wear repeat articles of clothing today – likely to ensure the focus stayed on the important engagements themselves. She wore her Mulberry Paddington coat in a light blue, her tweed-like Dolce & Gabbana skirt (last seen during her Huffington Post Editorial visit), an unidentified black turtleneck we have seen before, black suede Mulberry clutch and black Stuart Weitzman Power Pumps.
We have repliKates!
