One of the products that is is universally recognized to be in Kate’s Royal Beauty Bag is skincare line Karin Herzog. Karin Herzog has a wide variety of products designed for all kinds of skincare needs, but their most popular is their oxygen technology skincare line which are the products Kate uses. As we all start to prepare for the busy and hectic holiday season, we thought we’d share with you the key elements to Kate’s skincare regime and giveaway two Mini Party Regime Kits from Karin Herzog!
If you’re like us before we tried the products, you are probably wondering why on earth oxygen in cream is a revolutionary concept. The secret seems to be in the creams being able to use the oxygen to get the cream to your face and then provide all its benefits to the skin. As the wonderful people at Karin Herzog kindly explained to us, the oxygen in the formulas is released when it comes into contact with the Catalase enzyme in the skin and the resulting mini-explosion propels the oxygen, water and other active ingredients in the cream deep into the epidermis, transforming the skin from the inside out. (Sound too science-y for you? Dr. Paul Herzog, the man behind the science of the line named for his wife, has a Doctor Honoris Causa awarded by the Nobel Institute. We’ll trust him!)
We have covered the Karin Herzog line before in the Royal Beauty Bag series, but since it’s one that is not super readily available or widely known, we thought we would answer some questions about the Swiss line… And offer a giveaway with key elements of the skincare line!
Oxygen skin care is based on a 4-step regime which helps reveal a refreshed, youthful complexion no matter your age. The secret is in the second step where you correct & treat your skin and do so with a formal specifically targets for your skin. Here are the four steps to Karin Herzog’s Skin Care.
STEP 1 : PREPARE WITH A MILD SCRUB
One of the most important steps of any skincare routine is making sure you start with a clean base. Scrubbing off makeup and dead skin from the top layer of skin allows you to get to the healthy skin underneath that needs to get the creams, potions and serums you are putting on. In Karin Herzog’s arsenal, this includes Professional Cleansing Gel and a Mild Face Scrub. As someone who loves scrubs and exfoliants, I was perhaps most excited to test out this product and compare it to the wide variety of other products in this category that make up my beauty arsenal. KH’s mild scrub surprised me in a good way; the scrub came out looking really thick in a white liquid, but when it was rubbed onto my skin it was amazingly gentle. There is a difference in my books between gentle and effective, but with almost round beads as the exfoliant, it didn’t cause any redness or irritation after using it.
STEP 2: CORRECT WITH A POWERFUL SERUM
So you’ve cleaned off your face and have got your skin prepped for the next step – which is to take steps to correct the damage that modern day life have caused to your skin! This is my favourite part of the 4-step regime from Karin Herzog because you can completely customize to create a personalized regime. Kate uses Vit-A-Kombi 1, which is meant for ages 25-25. The cream has 1% oxygen, retinol and Vitamin E to help normalize and detoxify skin while correcting and preventing fine lines and wrinkles. For those 35-50, there is Vit-A-Kombi 2 (which features more intense versions of the ingredients in Kombi 1 and the Oxygen Hyalu Lift cream. For those 50+, there is the Vit-A-Kombi with AHA. For those under 25, or with problem skin, there is the Oxygen Face cream with a stronger concentration (2%) of oxygen which will help detox and treat problematic acne prone skin by killing blemish causing bacteria. As you can tell, there is a huge amount of personalization and customization here. If you’re the same age range as Kate, then the Vit-A-Kombi 1 is likely your best bet, but if not, choose a product better suited for your age bracket or skin needs.
STEP #3: NOURISH WITH AN INTENSE MOISTURIZER
The last step in the skincare process is to add a deep moisturizer to help lock in all of the benefits your skin has experienced over the previous steps and to create a barrier against external elements. Karin Herzog has a fantastic Additional Sweet Moisturizer which is an intensive night moisturizer. It goes on really light but you can absolutely feel the richness of the cream and my skin felt amazing immediately after using it.
STEP #4: BEAUTIFY
A new element of the Karin Herzog line and process is their new finishing powders and BB creams. Choosing good quality makeup as a base is key in continuing to enjoy the benefits of your skincare regime. By just caking on more makeup everyday you could be completely negating the progress of the other 3 steps. Karin Herzog has new Finishing Powders (in 4 shades) and a brand new BB Cream.
We know that we can’t all justify the costs of some of Kate’s skincare without testing out the products first. That’s why we created the Royal Beauty Box, so you can test out small amounts of Kate products that may be hard to find or difficult to justify a spend on without experiencing why the Duchess loves them.
But it’s also why we love to giveaway elements so you can experience them for yourselves. We are partnering with Karin Herzog to give away 2 prizes of Karin Hezog’s Mini Party Regime! The mini party regime is great for prepping skin before a big event or holiday party. Exfoliate with Mild Scrub to reveal a soft, flawless and smooth complexion. Then apply the 2% oxygen Essential Mask with the brush. Leave on a medium layer for 10 minutes and remove or massage in any excess. The mask boosts radiance, plumps fine lines and freshens up the skin.
We will be giving away two prizes valued at $116 each of the Mini Party Regime, which includes one 50 mL Mild Scrub Face Scrub, one 50 mL Essential Mask and one small face brush to get you prepared for all your holiday parties.
