It was a busy evening for the Duchess tonight – attending both the Recovery Street Film Festival (which was hush-hush until right as it happened due to security concerns) as well as the UK premiere of A Street Cat Named Bob.
The Recovery Street Film Festival focuses on filmmakers who have a lived experience of recovering from drug or alcohol addiction, whether it is themselves or a loved one. They aim to demonstrate through the medium of film the diverse issues that are faced by people overcoming addiction and how those around them can be affected. One of the Duchess’ patronages, Action on Addiction, is a key partner of the event.
Kate met with various filmmakers at the festival and spent time talking with those impacted by addiction.
From there, she attended the premiere of the film A Street Cat Named Bob. The film was also premiered courtesy of Action on Addiction, and their president had the following to say “Today, we are highlighting the message which is a theme of the film that even in the depths of addiction, there is hope. Addiction is a devastating condition which affects individuals, families and the wider community, and people find it difficult to talk about the issue. We are grateful to the Duchess for continuing to ensure that the subject of addiction is not ignored, and that people are encouraged to speak out and seek support and treatment.”
Kate certainly appeared to be having a terrific time at the premiere. She met with the cast and crew – including the Bob the cat who portrays himself in the movie.
For today’s event, we saw yet another new brand for the Duchess. She wore a dress from London based Self-Portrait. Their Pleated Crochet Maxi Dress looked stunning on the Duchess who paired it with her Mulberry Bayswater clutch, burgundy Gianvito Rossi pumps, Oscar de la Renta Hammered Gold-Plated Faux Pearl Earrings and as we are quickly approaching Remembrance Day, her poppy brooch.
