It was a very fun (and flower-y) week for royal watchers! Here are all our favorite updates:
Come sail away with Kate.
On May 20, the Duchess of Cambridge visited Portsmouth to support the 1851 Trust and Ben Ainslie Racing as they train for the America’s Cup. Kate did her usual hobnobbing with staff, volunteers, locals, and children who benefit from the trust and then delighted royal watchers by taking to the high seas. Kate rewore her Alexander McQueen nautical separates for the fancier events, then changed into a BAR Land Rover Jacket and Columbia sailing trousers aboard the boat. Kate wore a new pair of trainers from Adidas, and was spotted leaving in black skinny jeans and a cable-knit jumper.
Ring around the rosy, pocket full of tissues.
On May 23, Wills and Kate joined the Queen and members of the royal family on a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show. The annual event for the Royal Horticultural Society is the poshest place to stop and smell the roses. (Unfortunately for Kate, smelling the roses required royal tissues, which she kept in her super chic clutch). The Cambridges and the Royal Third Wheel toured the displays and saw the chrysanthemum named after little Charlotte. Kate wore a gorgeous green coatdress from Catherine Walker – a perfect choice for a casual afternoon stroll through the gardens (if you’re a Duchess, that is).
A powerful message.
For the annual Children’s Hospice Week, the Duchess of Cambridge shared a letter as patron of EACH:
Like father, like son.
On May 24, Prince George was spotted following in his daddy’s footsteps by climbing aboard a motorcycle (Wills has a fancy motorbike from his younger days, which Kate isn’t too keen on). The police unit that patrol KP let Cheeks have some fun as they chatted with his mummy. Kate wore the updated Great Plains “Cezanne” dress, which we can confirm the company sent the Duchess ahead of the frock’s relaunch. Kate must love the dress, because she now owns it in three colors!
Care for some tea?
On May 24, Kate was in the garden again for one of the Queen’s annual garden parties at Buckingham Palace. She mingled with hundreds of party guests and hundreds of tea sandwiches. The Duchess re-wore the Alexander McQueen coatdress made for Prince George’s christening and a super chic fascinator from Jane Taylor.
Head for the chopper!
After the garden party, Wills and Kate boarded the royal helicopter to head back to Norfolk, presumably where George, Charlotte and Marvin were eagerly awaiting their return. They’ll spend a few days at home before heading back to London for some fun events next week.
A walk in the park.
New pictures of Kate walking in the park with George and Charlotte are floating around Instagram. In the pictures, Kate wears an embroidered chambray maxi skirt and white plimsolls. There aren’t too many details about the pics, but it was fun to see Kate, Cheeks, and Charlie out in the open enjoying the beautiful weather!
What do your thank you cards look like? Probably not this good.
Last week, two new official portraits of the Duchess of Cambridge were revealed – first at the ICPCN conference, then on the new royal thank you cards. The photograph of Kate and a photograph of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were taken by photographer Chris Jelf. Kate wore a very princess-y cream jacket by Alberta Ferreti and a skirt from Whistles.
