Yesterday, Will and Kate welcomed young people from the Indian and Bhutanese communities in London to Kensington Palace for a reception in advance of their Royal Tour, commencing on Sunday.
The event was coordinated so their Royal Highnesses could learn more about the culture, people and history of the two countries they will soon be visiting. The Mirror included a quote from model Neelam Gill, who met Kate, about her interest in the cuisine that would be offered on the tour:
“She told me that she loved Indian food so I told her that she’d be fine with the spices. But William told me that he struggles with the spices so I told him to watch out.”
Kate wore a surprising dress from a designer we thought we’d see at some point on the tour – Saloni London.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore the £498 full-length Mary Navy Dots dress by Saloni coupled with £1,495 Cassandra Goad Temple of Heaven earrings and $675 Rupert Sanderson Malory heels in navy. The dress was once available on Moda Operandi, but is no longer available.
The reaction to the dress was not the usual universal love from our readers! Some thought it was too heavy for the event, frumpy or that the Duchess was overdressed.
We think it likely that we will see at least something else from Saloni while on this tour. There are some gorgeous pieces available from Saloni online, we hope that we can see Kate in some of their bright, impactful colours on the tour!
