As Patron of Place2Be, the Duchess of Cambridge released a video to support Children’s Mental Health Week, happening from the 8th to the 14th of February.
In the video, Kate clearly articulates why she feels so strongly about mental health, as well as showing her maternal side with adorable interactions with a group of (very lucky) little boys and girls. We encourage you to take a moment and watch the BAFTA produced video.
“Every child deserves to grow up feeling confident that they won’t fall at the first hurdle, that they cope with life’s setbacks. This resilience – our ability to deal with stressful situations – is something we begin to learn in childhood, as we respond to each challenge and problem life presents. Many of us are incredibly fortunate that the issues we face in childhood are ones we can cope with and learn from. But for some children, learning to cope with life’s challenges can be a struggle,” she continues. While we cannot always change a child’s circumstances, we can give them the tools to cope, and to thrive. With early support they can learn to manage their emotions and feelings and know when to seek help.”
Kate wore a familiar and popular outfit in the video – a Rebecca Taylor suit many will recognize from its first début in 2012, and again from events in New Zealand in 2014. It’s a gorgeous piece from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2012/2013 Collection. She also wore diamond and sapphire earrings.
If you are able, it’s very easy to support Children’s Mental Health Week. There is of course the cash donation route, but also one that won’t cost you anything – volunteering for this extremely worthy cause… Definitely something Kate would do. Click on either of the images below to find out more.
