Christmas morning is one of the most anticipated times of the year. Families gather together to exchange gifts, and joyfully watch one another open presents. But as children rush to open their presents, and parents try to prepare for the day, it is easy to lose track of time and miss sharing a family Christmas morning breakfast together.
Fortunately, there’s a fast and easy breakfast that the entire family will love: porridge.
Porridge is an underrated meal that is both filling and tasty. It is an essential part of breakfast across Great Britain (and the Queen is known to enjoy a breakfast of porridge). Here’s the delicious recipe from Flahavan’s Organic Porridge Oats:
If you’re looking for creamy oats reminiscent of trips to London or Ireland, try the brand Flahavan’s Organic Porridge Oats (link here: http://rstyle.me/~78qEL).
Serving one bowl (increase as needed for each guest).
Stir a half cupful of oats into 1 1/4 cupfuls of cold water or milk. Bring to a boil and cook briskly for three minutes, stirring all the time. Cooking time will be reduced if oats are soaked overnight.
Top with your favorite fruit, like sliced bananas or blueberries and drizzle honey over it for a sweet treat!
Merry Christmas to All!
