Two turtle doves may not be of much interest to Princess Charlotte, who will be less than eight months old at her first Christmas. Even though she may prefer wrapping paper to presents, there are plenty of lovely gifts – both practical and memorable – that the Duchess may consider for her little princess.
But what do you get the little girl who, quite literally, has the world at her tiny fingertips? From what we know of Kate’s gift-giving abilities, she is likely to choose classic pieces that will last for many Christmases to come, along with meaningful gifts that are more than just a little toy. Here are some ideas…
A pretty new dress: Of course princesses need pretty holiday dresses! We chose this black and white puppy print (hello, Lupo!) dress from Rachel Riley, a brand Kate has chosen many times for Prince George. Many mothers choose to save baby’s first Christmas outfit as a keepsake, and the classic monochrome print of this dress plus a pop of red in the sash makes for a timeless piece! Rachel Riley | $132
A keepsake rattle: Who can forget Charlotte York’s silver Tiffany rattle? Keepsake rattles make for wonderful moments, especially if they can be engraved. Princess Charlotte can wiggle and shake it to her heart’s delight, and mummy Kate can keep it for many years to come. Similar: Barton | $60
A cuddly blanket: Babies can never have too many blankets. With William’s passion for wildlife conservation, I bet there are more than a few elephants and rhinos in Charlotte’s closet. Kate has been known to choose high quality blankets and bedding for her little ones, so this cotton and cashmere blend baby throw seems right up her alley. Lucky Jade | $100
Sophie and friends: Sophie la Girafe is a baby cult classic (honestly, show me a baby who has not gummed on Sophie’s lovely limbs!). Even George had one! If George’s beloved toy is too chewed up, Kate might pick one up for Charlotte, too! I love this gift set with a cuddly blanket (again, you can NEVER have too many!) and Sophie all wrapped up. Sophie Le Girafe | $80
A royal rocking horse: It was rumored that Prince George received a beautiful rocking horse, and this year I’ve heard that William and Kate have ordered a custom see-saw for George and Charlotte’s Christmas gift! Take a tip from the royals: some things never go out of style, and a classic rocking horse is a big gift with a timeless appeal. I love this elaborate designed carousel horse, although Kate might opt for something more classic! Teamson Kids | $279
Next week, we’re looking at gifts for Kate’s Mum and Dad – Mike and Carole Middleton!
