One of the most baffling gifts of the Christmas season is often your in-laws – nothing too sentimental, nothing too flashy, nothing too modest, and nothing too impersonal. If you think its hard for your in-laws, the nice couple who raised your other half in a suburban home near Cambridge, imagine if they were the future King and Queen of England – literally.
When you’re shopping for the very people who made your Prince (or Princess) Charming into your dreamboat, there can be a lot of pressure. There is always a feeling to impress them year after year, even though they don’t really need – and claim to not really want – anything. Here are some ideas for your very own Charles and Camilla:
A painting set: Prince Charles is known to be a passionate painter. His watercolors have been displayed at the many British palaces for the public to enjoy, and also line his own castle walls. While he probably has plenty of professional paint sets, he might not have one perfect for little hands. Charles is absolutely in love with little George and Charlotte, and giving him a watercolor set to share with his grandchildren is a lovely gift that will provide lots of memories. Royal Brush painting chest | $152
A charitable gift: Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, is dedicated to advocating the welfare of animals, and her husband is vocal about his passion for wildlife conservation. A charitable gift, such as these animal tea towels that support the ASPCA, is a lovely gesture that gives twice – once to them, and once to the organization they are passionate about. ASPCA Animal Tea Towels | $19
A special map: Most married couples have places that are near and dear to their hearts, filled with loving memories. Charles and Camilla enjoy many holidays at their home in Scotland, and you can tell they love the Scottish countryside where they can escape for a romantic break or family getaway. A map of a favorite place – such as Scotland – is a lovely gift, especially if you can find a vintage or antique reproduction, such as this one from 1654. MAPSandART | $499
A playful scarf: Prince Charles, even at age 67, is an excellent polo player. He can frequently be seen playing at charity matches or riding his horses at a country estate. Camilla is also an equestrienne, who is known to love horses as much as her husband. A horse patterned silk scarf – which may be folded as a pocket square, or simply worn as a scarf – is a lovely gift that both can use and enjoy. Polo Silk Scarf | $720
A familiar face: Do your in-laws have a beloved pet? Camilla and Charles have a band of playful Jack Russell terriers, who were rescued from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Shelter in London. A sweet canine (or feline!) figurine, such as these adorable book ends depicting two Jack Russells, would make a great gift! Shoptiques | $60
Next time, we’ll be looking at prezzies for Prince Charming! Happy holiday shopping!
