The Royal Trio – Wills, Kate, and Harry – ventured to Twickenham Stadium this evening to watch the highly anticipated England versus Wales match. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are public supporters of team Wales, while Prince Harry is a massive fan of team England. The sibling rivalry certainly made for a fun event!
England is hosting the Rugby World Cup event at their home stadium in London. England and Wales have a long-standing team rivalry, undoubtedly another “sibling” contention. Both teams are in the same pool, which raises the stakes even more.
The events kicked off at 8PM with some short opening ceremonies, including the English and Welsh anthems and welcoming teams onto the pitch. It was a very exciting match for both teams, as Wales took an early lead but was quickly overcome by England at halftime. In the second half, however, Wales took the lead and gained victory with a final score of 25-28.
William and Catherine celebrated their team’s victory with a cuddle, while Prince Harry looked on grumpily. As ever, the sporting event provided some very entertaining photographs with some very entertaining facial expressions.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a black wool blazer to tonight’s events. It was rather chilly as the night went on. She also wrapped up in a red scarf – the Welsh team’s colors. We believe she has had this scarf for many years (as early as 2007), leading us to believe it is a silk or cashmere pashmina of very high quality. Many royal watchers were excited to see Kate in trousers! The Duchess chose Zara’s “Floral Print Trousers” for tonight’s events.
Kate debuted a lovely pair of gold earrings by Catherine Zoraida. The Fern Hoop earrings share a very similar motif to the Prince of Wales feathers, which are featured in the Welsh team’s logo.
Today’s events were another fun outfit for Wills, Kate, and Harry. It is always nice to see them out together, especially in such a playful setting. We may see William and Kate again at the next Wales match in October!
