Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, dear Goring! Happy birthday to you! Today, Kate made an unannounced visit to The Goring Hotel. The famous hotel was celebrating their 105th birthday and their new renovation.
The festivities began around noon with a big welcoming band on the front curb. Many locals spotted the Duchess in her not-so-subtle Range Rover motorcade. Kate was swept into the front door to meet and greet the staff and celebrators at the party.
The Goring Hotel is a London instutition. Royal Watchers will remember it as the “Royal Wedding Hotel” – the Middleton family stayed in the Royal Suite prior to the wedding, spent the morning getting dressed at the hotel, and the Middleton family hosted a reception for their nearest and dearest. They rented the entire building for the occasion.
The hotel is a royal favorite, and was even the spot for Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas Luncheon in 2012. The Goring is steps away from Buckingham Palace, and in 105 years has been host to many royals, diplomats, and dignitaries.
Today, Kate attended the 105th birthday party and toured the newly-renovated space. The renovations included all the public areas, including the lobby.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a silk chiffon dress from Erdem – the “Darla”, from their Spring 2013 collection. It is believed to have been purchased and altered during her pregnancy with Prince George. The dress is an unlikely choice in her third trimester, but she looked lovely as always!
Kate accessorized with her Alexander McQueen navy suede pumps and her Stuart Weitzman Muse clutch. For earrings, she chose her recently-IDed Asprey pear shaped earrings.
The Goring Hotel is a wonderful piece of London’s history, and Kate’s history as well! We encourage you to tweet @TheGoring wishing them a happy birthday!
