This evening, the Duchess of Cambridge attended an Autumn Gala Evening in support of her patronage Action on Addiction. The black tie dinner and reception was held at L’anima, an upscale, award-winning restaurant in London.
Catherine became patron of Action on Addiction in January 2012. One of her first patronages, the charity “is the only UK charity working across the addiction field in research, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, professional workforce development, professional education and support for families and children.” To learn more about Action on Addiction, catch up on our Charity Spotlight.
The Duchess has worked very closely with Action on Addiction during her royal engagements, often visiting the charity’s services including a visit to a treatment center house and launching the MPACT program. The purpose of tonight’s event is to thank supporters and encourage further contribution to the charity’s work.
The Duchess of Cambridge arrived on the hot pink carpet around 7PM. Catherine enjoyed pre-dinner entertainment, including a piano performance, a speech by the Charity’s Chair, John Lloyd, and a performance by impersonator and comedian Rory Bremner. She mingled with guests, charity volunteers and staff in the restaurant’s event space.
Nick Barton, Chief Executive of Action on Addiction, said in a press release: “The Duchess of Cambridge has shown unwavering support of the Charity and we are delighted that our Patron is able to attend the Autumn Gala Evening. We are enormously grateful that Her Royal Highness has helped us to keep addiction very much in the spotlight by her involvement to help reduce the stigma surrounding the condition. The Charity’s mission is to free people from addiction and we hope this evening will help us to make further progress in achieving that aim.”
Kate opted for a stunning cocktail dress for this evening’s reception. The Temperley London “Emblem Flare Dress” is described as: “long-sleeved dress is inspired by stained glass ironwork and woven from a lightweight cotton-blend yarn. Delicate panels expose the nude slip, adding an edge to this feminine piece. The design is finished with a slashed neckline and a scoop back.” It is still available for $795.
The Duchess accessorized with her black suede Jimmy Choo “Cosmic” heels and carried a sparkly, beaded clutch handbag. She opted for diamond earrings – a wedding gift from Prince Charles – to add a little glitter to the outfit.
In tonight’s program, the Duchess of Cambridge wrote that the work of Action on Addiction “is simply life changing and I could not be more proud to be their patron.” Action on Addiction is a favorite for many royal watchers, and we could not agree more with Catherine’s sentiments. A wonderful charity was supported tonight by this wonderful event!
