Yesterday, there was a buzz in the air as details of the Royal Tour of New Zealand and Australia were finally released. The next few weeks will be filled with news and announcements for the upcoming tour, culminating in thorough coverage of the events undertaken by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in New Zealand and Australia.
Aside from the schedule and technical details, we wanted to answer your questions about the upcoming tour…
So…what is a Royal Tour?
Royals frequently visit commonwealth nations, territories, or provinces on Royal Tours. These tours are opportunities for Royals to explore parts of the world where Queen Elizabeth is considered regent or head of state. These events help strengthen political, trade, social and cultural relationships with these countries. The visits often highlight military campaigns, charitable causes, and local culture.
Will Kate and Will be visiting X city?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be visiting the following cities:
Wellington, Blenheim, Auckland, Waikato, Dunedin, Queenstown, Christchurch, Sydney, Blue Mountains, Brisbane, Uluru/Ayer’s Rock, Adeleide, and Canberra
If you’d like more information on events in a certain city in hopes of seeing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
How are they getting to New Zealand and Australia?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George will take direct flights from London to New Zealand. These are lengthy, 25 hour flights. In between cities, they will fly or be driven depending on the location.
What is the time differences between my city and X city?

Is Prince George going?
YES! Prince Georgie of the Chubby Cheeks will be accompanying William and Kate to New Zealand and Australia. The Duke and Duchess have selected 1-2 engagements that George might attend, depending on his behaviour on that day. He will also (obviously) be with his parents when they arrive in the different countries, allowing for quite a few photo opportunities.
Speaking of Georgie…is Kate pregnant?
Since Kate is scheduled to attend a wine tasting event, we feel confident that those rumors can be put to rest for a while, until at least 2015.
Can we talk about clothes?
YES! We will have a whole article on Kate’s clothes – both expected and potential. The events call for some fantastic outfits. We expect to see plenty of sunny, sweet dresses, some casual and sporty ensembles, and maybe even a cocktail dress or two. It is worth noting that there are no black or white tie events scheduled.
Will we see a tiara?
No 🙁 Tiaras are appropriate at white tie events only. We can hope to see some diamonds and gems, perhaps in the form of brooches, earrings, necklaces, or bracelets!
Is Angela Kelly dressing Kate?
No. Angela Kelly has denied assisting Kate with her outfits.
Is Kate using Diana’s hairdresser?
Kate is bringing a hair dresser with her on her personal team. She is not using an Australian stylist.
Will Kate choose longer hemlines?
Kate may choose to wear longer hemlines. This might be a nod to the modern fashion trend of “midi” skirts rather than a move towards modesty. The notions that Her Majesty is altering Kate’s fashion choices have proven to be false.
Will she wear trousers?
It is highly unlikely Kate will wear trousers to a formal event – royal women in the British Royal Family rarely wear trousers to dressy or formal occassions. She may opt for skinny jeans or pants for more casual ventures.
So how many outfits will she wear?
About a bazillion. Or, more accurately, we expect around 40 different outfits (But don’t make any bets on that!)
