The Imperial College Healthcare Charity is an organization that raises and manages charitable funds for the five hospitals in the Imperial College Healthcare Trust. These hospitals are Charting Cross, Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea, St. Mary’s, and Western Eye. Their aim in raising funds for these hospitals is to improve the experience of their patients by improving systems and services offered. Another interesting aspect of the charity is their commitment to the arts. Some of the funds they raise go towards introducing art into hospitals to improve the environment for the patients and visitors.
Kate and Will selected one of the Imperial College’s hospitals for the royal birth of Prince George of Cambridge. Kate delivered Prince George at the Birth Centre at St. Mary’s Hospital. This maternity center is dedicated to providing the best maternal care in the UK and is primarily funded by the Imperial College, recently donating one million pounds to the Birth Centre. Because Kate and Will are dedicated to bringing the best care and support to children and children’s health in the UK, they support the Imperial College Healthcare Charity and their work on this maternity center. In lieu of gifts for the birth of Prince George, Kate and Will have asked for donations to the charity fund.
