Kate showed us just how chic sporty could be last summer during the London Olympics. Every day was another hit outfit, that could easily go from luncheon to bleachers to photos with the team.
here just around the corner, warmer days are ahead and so are outdoor events. Whether you are a spectator, a coach, a fan or a friend, you can’t show up at the ballgame in a sundress and you better not be there in sweatpants, either. Take a note from Kate and show those sports fans what it means to be “sporty chic.”
Sexy Spectator inspired by The Canucks
Watching your husband play hockey? On a hot date? Trying to impress the quarterback? Pair your favorite black jeggings (with extra stretch for all the up-and-down you’ll be doing while cheering!) with a team-colored blazer. Pick a print blouse – Kate went with polka dots one day and stripes another – and some comfortable wedges. This outfit shows tons of team spirit AND curves. Win, win.
Sweet & Sporty inspired by The Packers
For a post-game barbecue or a trip to watch your cousin play soccer, opt for a cute and spirited ensemble. Bold colored jeans are very in style right now, so it is the perfect chance to show off your gams. Stick with an ankle length pair, which is the it-length this season. Pair it with your team’s polo (t-shirts are so bourgeois) and ballet flats for a ladylike look that says “Go Team!”
Athletic Chic inspired by The Nationals
If you’re invited to a family game of softball, don’t fret (unless you, like me, cannot play softball). You can still look great from the first pitch to the post-game lunch. Pair your super-stretchy jeggings with a sporty windbreaker (or zip-up hoodie) with a team-inspired colored trainer. Trainers are a personal choice, and should be based on what is best for you, but go for a fun, bold color whenever possible. Under the windbreaker, wear a loose-but-well-fitted white t-shirt (think – v-neck, slightly slouchy but still flattering) for when the game heats up. I like my jeans to be ankle length when I pair them with trainers, but wear what you’re comfortable in! Don’t forget the cute ponytail!!
