Will Pregnant Kate Wear Alexander McQueen? We Say Yes, and Here are our Top Picks

Will Pregnant Kate Wear Alexander McQueen? We Say Yes, and Here are our Top Picks

One of the most exciting things about Kate being pregnant is not the fact that there is going to be a new baby, that Will and Kate are going to be parents or even that we’re about to witness history when we see a new King or Queen be born. Ok, those are probably all good normal things to be excited about, but we’re also pretty pumped about the new clothes which we’re bound to see in the next few months.

Since I’m not currently buying a new wardrobe, I thought it would be fun to look at the new collections which some of Kate’s favorite designers are showing for Spring/Summer 2013 and see if there might be any pieces we’d see on pregnant Kate.

This week, I’m starting out with a classic Kate favorite brand and looking at 2013 by Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen is far and away one of Kate’s favorite designers. Having designed her iconic wedding dress and some of our other absolute favorite Kate looks, it’s no stretch that Kate might be up for wearing Alexander McQueen during her pregnancy. Plus, seeing as Sarah Burton, the head designer is also pregnant, this is pretty much a lock. Here are some of the 2013 McQueen looks that we think Kate will be considering.

Ok, this orange dress is not exactly in one of Kate’s favorite colors. In fact, I didn’t find a single orange dress she’s ever worn by itself- but bear with me here when I say the color of the dress can be easily altered and the cut of this dress is really what stands out as a perfect choice for a burgeoning belly. I see the dress as being made for her in either a blue or even a red. Kate would, of course, pair this with a bolero jacket (maybe the one from her wedding dress for the evening ceremonies?) or have it made with sleeves in some variety. Every pregnant lady knows that an empire waist is where it’s at.

Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2013 Black Dress

OK this next dress is a little dark, but imagine it again with potentially a brighter colors. The neckline is perfect for a prim and proper Princess while the the belt can be strategically placed above a bump to emphasize a still tiny ribcage in the next couple of months before the baby bump is too big. I really like the angle cut of the bottom of this dress and how it flares out- although might be difficult to pull off unless for a specific more formal function while it’s still chilly out.

Apparently McQueen has a thing for vampire-red and black this fall as there is yet another dress which caught my eye for Kate. This is actually a two-piece and it could likely be altered to allow a small bump. Is it not divine? It makes me want to go out and buy something, anything, in blood red. We could see Kate pairing this with different shoes, of course, but really otherwise not making too many alterations.

Oh, I die. Reminiscent of the two piece suit worn on the Asian tour, this would have to be substantially altered to add sleeves and a much less restrictive belt, but oh… It’s otherwise so perfect for Kate. The white has a very motherly and earthy feel to it while still being classic and with the sweetheart neckline sophisticated. Would love to see her in this.
